Here are the monsters completed for the Shadows of Brimstone City of the Ancients set. I’m not entirely thrilled with these sculpts. The mouths of the maw creatures are just smooth caves. Something that hinted at further activity or digestion wold have been nice. The spiders have these great teeth, but there are on the bottom where you cannot see them when in play. The massive monster has some ambiguity around the tentacle mouth and generally seems pretty crude.
Having said that they were easy to paint and hopefully this job is good enough for the table to bring the game a bit more to life. Painting technique was a white undercoat, block colours, wood tinted varnish (the Army Painter technique), matt varnished and then dry brushed in lighter tones and details such as teeth and claws brought out.
